Guernsey Police is investigating, and a man was arrested after a body was found in Alderney.
In the early hours of this morning (28 September), emergency services, including the RNLI lifeboat, were called to the south-west cliffs at the Giffoine, known locally as The Guns.
There, a body was discovered.
The person has not yet been formally identified, but police have confirmed the deceased is a woman.
A 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of committing murder.
He is in police custody, but is receiving treatment in hospital.
Officers say they are not looking for anyone else at this time.
Detective Superintendent Jonathan Bancroft has asked the public to refrain from speculation while enquiries continue.
