Jersey Zoo has announced that one of its Chilean Flamingos has died during Storm Ciaran, which battered the Channel Islands overnight.
Jersey Met says it's the worst storm the islands have experienced since 1987, with winds in excess of 100mph recorded in Jersey.
All other animals have been accounted for and are being monitored. All the zoo's staff are 'safe'.
A number of trees have fallen on the Durrell site, with bosses taking the decision to keep the zoo closed on Friday and into the weekend.
A further decision will be taken later in the week on if the doors will re-open on Monday.
