Man (87) Dies After Car Hits Granite Wall

An 87-year-old man has died after the car he was driving hit a granite wall in St Lawrence.

A Red Toyota Starlet was going down Mont Cambrai and hit the wall on the sharp bend near the bottom of the hill at around 1:15pm on Monday 8 August.

A large part of the wall was knocked down. A member of the public saw the car and called the emergency services.

The driver was taken to hospital and was pronounced dead a short time later.

Jersey Police say his family has been informed, but formal identification has yet to take place.

Anyone who saw the crash, saw the car in the area beforehand, or has CCTV or dashcam footage can call police on 612612 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
