The JSPCA is appealing for help to re-home some of its long-term residents.
Two dogs, three ferrets, 10 terrapins and a cockatoo have spent a year at the Animals' Shelter.
The charity is hoping to find new owners here, before looking to re-home them away from the island.
Babs Keywood hopes islanders will come forward to help some of the animals in their care:
"It is important to highlight to the public that we are struggling to find homes for local animals. It is very stressful being in a kennel or shelter environment for a long period of time. We see some of their characters change and some can become quite depressed."
However, she says the JSPCA is generally managing to re-home animals much better than centres in the UK:
"We are very lucky that we don't have the numbers compared to the UK. In general, at the JSPCA we are doing very well with re-homing - and it's lovely to see it like that compared to previous years where we've been looking for space to house these animals."
We're being reminded to help reduce the number of animals needing re-homing in the first place by doing our research before getting a pet:
"You need to think 'is it the right time for me to be taking on an animal?. Is there a baby that's expected? Are we going to be moving house soon?' You need to make sure you're in the right place that you can help an animal and can provide them with everything they need - not just thinking 'I fancy a new pet and going off and getting one.'"
