An underweight baby seal found sleeping at the top of Le Fregate Slipway has been taken in to New Era Vets.
The Jersey British Divers Marine Life Rescue were called out at around 9am on Wednesday during the stormy winds.
The seal pup is around 3 weeks old and weighs just 17 kilograms. A seal of this age would ideally weigh between 30 and 40 kilograms.
Group Co-ordinator Donna de Gruchy says it was important to take the pup in for treatment.
“We don’t like to lift them out of their natural habitat if we can help it. Usually on a calmer day or on a quieter bay, we would stay for at least 12 or 24 hours and watch the pup and just make sure that mum wasn’t just off having a swim.
“But I think the fact that this pup is about three weeks old already shows that is already weened by mum and isn’t a good weight.”
It’s the first seal pup to be found following the recent stormy conditions.
It will now be stabilised and receive much needed fluids, whilst a plan is put in place for the pups next move.
