This year's Liberation Day celebrations should be able to take place in-person for the first time in three years.
2022 marks the 77th anniversary of Jersey's freedom from occupying forces during the war, but we've not been able to celebrate as normal for the last two years because of coronavirus restrictions.
Jersey's Bailiff, Timothy Le Cocq, says this summer should make for a very happy occasion for islanders:
"Things are getting back to normal as far as we can tell, and that means we should have a Liberation Day, as we have had in the past.
It will align quite nicely with the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, and there'll be a real period of celebration where all islanders can come together.
We can, in a sense, put the burdens of the last two years behind us and join together in a real island celebration."
Officers are still working to finalise the programme of events for this year's Liberation Day, but the relaxing of Covid restrictions since last year means gatherings are once again allowed to take place.
Mr Le Cocq told Channel 103 he hopes more details of the planned events should be announced 'fairly soon'.
