People with hidden disabilities will be able to get extra help traveling in and out of the island.
From Monday 3 December, Ports of Jersey will be offering sunflower badges and lanyards to let people signal they might need more time or help.
Similar schemes have been introduced at other airports like Gatwick, as well as Co-op stores locally.
Maria Le Tiec from Ports of Jersey hopes being part of the scheme will make things easier for passengers:
“We have made great efforts in recent years to improve the passenger experience at Jersey Airport. In particular, we’ve focused on customers with both visible and hidden disabilities, who may require special assistance. We have worked closely with many agencies to assist us with this initiative, providing us with their invaluable specialist knowledge and experience. These include Autism Jersey, the Co-Op, Alzheimer’s Jersey, the General Hospital, Stomawise UK and Gatwick Airport, which launched a similar scheme in 2017.”
Badges and lanyards will be available for free from the Special Assistance Desk at the Airport Departures Terminal, and can also be used at the harbour terminals.
