Plans for hotel, spa and conference centre at Strive in St Peter

Plans have been submitted for a 179-room hotel with a spa, pool and conference centre in St Peter, near Jersey airport.

If approved, the complex will be built between Jersey Bowl and Strive Health, Fitness and Medical Facility.

The planning submission states the ambition is to create 'a sports, leisure and cultural destination' to 'maintain and enhance infrastructure that supports a wide range of sports, leisure and cultural activities'.

The application claims the development will address issues the island faces, such as drawing year-round tourism, and gaps in health infrastructure through:

a 4/5-star hotel alongside world-class sports facilities.
a large-scale business and entertainment event space
an integrated spa and wellness offering connected to the existing medical and training centre.

It boasts its potential in the generation of employment opportunities and tourism both during the construction and operation.

There has been early praise from some islanders to the plans, welcoming a 'high-quality hotel by the airport,' that will create a 'major employer in the west' alleviating the 'massive surge of traffic from west to east.'

Others say the 'truly transformational' combination of hospitality and state-of-the-art sport facilities creates a competitive 'synergy'.

If approved, the construction is scheduled to take almost two years, and could welcome its first guests in 2028.
