Midvale Road will be closed for the next three months. When it reopens it will be one-way.
Work to narrow the road and widen the footpaths starts today (21 February)
The changes were announced in May 2021.
60% of 221 people who took part in a government consultation agreed it should be one-way. 31% disagreed.
When the road reopens in around twelve weeks' time vehicles will only be able to travel from Rouge Bouillon to Val Plaisant.

An artist's impression of Midvale Road once work is complete.
Cyclists travelling away from Rouge Bouillon will be able to use the road and cars won't be allowed to overtake them.
Those going the other way will be directed to Dorset Street and then Clearview Street.
Three speed-bumps are being installed and work will also be done on the drainage, street lights, and traffic lights.
