
Police are appealing for information regarding an assault in St Helier yesterday night (31 July)
The ongoing assault took place in various locations on the night of Thursday 31 July.
A 42-year-old man is being treated in hospital for serious injuries. A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grave and criminal assault and remains in police custody.
Officers are appealing for witnesses who may have seen any incidents involving two white males.
The young male is described as having a stocky build, wearing white or light-coloured trousers and a grey T shirt with short brown hair.
The older man has a slim build and was wearing a black jumper, dark, slim-fit jeans and brown shoes with white soles, with short dark hair.
The assault occurred in various locations across St Helier.
Police are particularly interested to hear from members of the public in the following locations at the following times:
• The Royal Square between 11:10 pm and 11:30 pm
• Burrard Street, from Minden Place Car Park to Halkett Place near the Methodist Centre – between 11:30 pm and 11:55pm.
Officers are also appealing specifically to a man who is believed to have seen a part of the assault on Burrard Street, outside the Elizabeth Howell shop, just before midnight.
This man is believed to have been wearing pink shorts and a grey sleeveless sports top with a cap.
