Christmas has come early for the Jersey Lifeboat Association, which has raised enough money for a new a new rib.
The rescue service has a new 'super rib' on the way to help the crew reach those in trouble at sea.
A team will be formed to put the rib together 'from scratch' - something the JLA is very excited to do.
JLA Coxswain Andy Hibbs says the £200,000 Gemini Waverider 880 CR Rib boat is fully-equipped with the latest technology.
"It's 8.8 metres long, top speed of around 45 to 47 knots. It's got shock mitigation seats which is all military spec designed for crew safety and crew well-being It’s got a fitted thermal-imaging camera, which we’ve never had before.
It's fitted with all the latest navigation gear, radar direction finder and everything. It really is going to be a fantastic bit of kit. We're exceptionally lucky to be able to build a unit from scratch.
"It has been a challenge in lockdown due to less fundraising activities but we are so proud to be bringing this vessel to Jersey as the fastest inshore vessel in Channel Island waters.
"As such the JLA will be ready to assist even more people in trouble at sea, which after all is our core focus."
The rib will be ready by Spring 2021.
