Jersey’s government has been forced to deny it’s planning to seek independence from the UK.
It's in response to a recent Freedom of Information request.
However, the Government of Jersey has admitted there are plans in place should the island ever break away.
It comes as officials work on their arrangements to manage all Brexit eventualities.
They say while the government has no intention of pushing for Jersey's independence, it has to be prepared should that change in future:
"It is not Government policy to seek independence from the United Kingdom, but rather to ensure that Jersey is prepared if it were in the best interests of Islanders to seek a change in Jersey’s existing status."
