Dr Andrew McLaughlin has been announced as the temporary head of the island's public service, following the shock resignation of Suzanne Wylie in March.
Dr McLauglin was the former CEO of Royal Bank of Scotland International in Jersey and is currently at Natwest in London.
He has also held a number of chair and non-executive positions, including Chair of the Princes Trust Scotland, CBI Economics and Tax Committee and closer to home, Dr McLaughlin was a member of the Fiscal Policy Panel for the States of Guernsey.
Andrew McLaughlin says the opportunity is a 'privilege'.
"I hope my leadership experience brings something new to the executive team and that I, in turn, can learn from colleagues who have dedicated their careers to public service."
Chief Minister Deputy Kristina Moore says she is delighted to have a 'highly qualified and local' candidate'.
"Andrew brings with him decades of strategic leadership experience across a number of sectors, and his personal and professional experience will be of direct benefit to the Government.
We have been extremely fortunate with the value-based leadership, skill, and competence of Suzanne Wylie and I am sure Andrew will build on these foundations. States employees do amazing work, day in and day out, and Andrew will lead them in an inspiring and rewarding manner."
He will take up the Chief Executive role from 5 September, despite the outgoing Suzanne Wylie leaving on Friday (30 June).
She is officially leaving in July but is taking 'pre-planned leave' beforehand.
In the meantime, assistant Chief Executive Tom Walker will be the 'designated Principal Accountable Officer'.
The government says that there will be a 'structured handover' between Ms Wylie and Dr McLaughlin before he takes office.
