Traffic has been brought to a standstill in central St Helier because of emergency roadworks on Stopford Road.
Drivers have reported gridlock as a result of work going on to repair the road at the junction of David Place, outside the Tropical Bistro.
The Infrastructure department says a team is dealing with an emergency issue, believed to be caused by voids under the road surface.
It is causing long delays in the area.
The work is expected to continue beyond 6pm on Thursday (11 June).
“Diversions are currently in place, please avoid the area if possible.”
