Damage to the DFDS fast ferry Tarifa Jet is being examined after it hit the berth on arrival at St Helier harbour.
The vessel suffered damage when it arrived in Jersey on Sunday evening (28 March).
Photos shared on social media showed a mangled section of the stern of the ship.
Sunday night's sailing to St Malo has been cancelled.
DFDS says the Tarifa Jet made contact with the ferry berth and that no passengers or crew were injured.
"As a result, Sunday evening's sailing to St Malo has been cancelled and we apologise to passengers for the inconvenience caused.
"DFDS officials are working with port authorities and carrying out an inspection of the vessel.
"A further update will be provided on Monday morning."
Ports of Jersey issued a statement:
"We are currently undertaking inspections of both the operator vessel and the harbour infrastructure.
"An investigation will take place with the operator and the vessel's flag state to understand the cause of the incident."
Earlier, Saturday's sailings to France had been cancelled due to what DFDS called 'technical reasons'.
Footage on social media from onboard the Tarifa Jet, posted online on Friday, seemed to show water ingress through the ceiling of the passenger cabin. It is believed to have been caused by an issue with the toilets.
Channel 103 understands two school trips were due to depart on a skiing break on Sunday's sailing.
This weekend marked one year since DFDS first started operating the Jersey services, having been awarded a 20 year contract by the government.
