Organisers of a dance event that was planned for tonight have had to reschedule after falling foul of an old Jersey law that says dancing isn't allowed on Good Friday.
The little-known rule, which is still part of the island's Licencing Law today, states that 'designated bars and nightclubs' can't allow people to play music or dance on the religious day.
The 'Malice in Wonderland' easter party at L'Auberge Du Nord in St John is now due to take place on Easter Sunday instead.
Organisers have thanked islanders for their understanding and said they will be contacting ticket holders to advise them of the change.
It's not the only business affected by the Good Friday licencing restrictions.
Cineworld - the island's only multiplex cinema - is also unable to trade today because of the law.
In a message posted on its website, the cinema chain has apologised for the inconvenience:
The Licencing (Jersey) Law was introduced in its current form in 1974, but has been revised slightly in the years since.
It still stipulates that cinemas and theatres are banned from opening at all on Good Friday and Christmas Day:
