Coronation Park has been made bigger, with new paths and a play area on the neighbouring former playing fields. But a much-anticipated pump track for bikes isn't there, yet.
The extension to the park at Millbrook has been four years in the works, since a secret donor gifted the land to the island.
Nearly 700 islanders took part in a consultation into how the land should be used, and 1,300 ideas were suggested by children and young people.
Among them was a tarmac pump track for bikes, which was part of the planning application submitted earlier this year.

However, although the park had its official unveiling this week, bikers will have to wait longer for a facility there.

We're told it has been held up up due to planning requirements about road safety.
No timescale has been given for when it will be built.
Infrastructure Minister Jonathan Renouf told Channel 103:
"The expectation is that with a pump track, a lot of people will drive along the avenue, park on one side of the avenue, bring their bikes across from there.
"So the traffic levels will increase, and we need to know what effect that will have on road safety.
"That work is underway, but it is very much still in the plan. It is simply a case of working through the requirements we have to go through before we can get permission for it.
£280,000 has been spent on the landscaping, planting, creating sand dunes and a natural play space using wood and felled trees.
The government says it's a 'fantastic new space for children to explore, play and let their imaginations run wild.'
