'Outdated' images of Jersey's road network will be replaced following an almost £500,000 government-funded tech grant.
IslandView has been tasked with creating new high-res street-level images.
The 12-month project will use a 'Jersey Capture Vehicle' to take images of the roads and the surrounding buildings.
Current data is deemed 'outdated', with some websites showing images from 2010, for example, showing the old Blockbuster store on Bath Street, several Spar shops, and Millennium Park when it was a car park.

Gary Edwards, Director at re.je, which is the business behind IslandView, says Jersey’s existing digital representation of its roads and built environment is quite out of date.
"To address this, we’ve developed a specialist vehicle equipped with cameras, laser scanners and highly accurate positioning technologies that can give us a modern, up-to-date data set.
"The aim is to support future innovation on the island and help position Jersey as an advanced jurisdiction for the development of emerging technologies such as AI and digital twins."
Data will also be gathered on the island's 4G and 5G coverage to improve transparency in telecoms performances.
Impact Jersey has given the company a grant of £487,000 through the Innovation Programme, administered by Digital Jersey.

It's hoped to improve planning, reduce costs in local architecture, engineering and construction sectors and to support the visitor economy.
