Ballet d’Jèrri is bringing a haunting island legend to its home after success in London.
Black Dog Noir - based on the myth of Bouley Bay's ghostly hound - is coming to the Royal Opera House in June.
It is created by internationally acclaimed Belgian choreographer Jeroen Verbruggen, Black Dog Noir transforms this eerie tale into an arresting piece of dance theatre with 'reckless physicality.'

Carolyn Rose Ramsay, Artistic Director and Founder of Ballet d’Jèrri, said the legend appealed to the world-renowned choreographer:
“The story of the black dog really caught his fancy, and he sees the myth as a metaphor.
"The ability to make peace with fear turns it into a tool to keep you safe rather than a prison to hold you back.
"He wants to share his experience of mental health as a journey, not a destination.”
Tickets are available on a 'Pay What You Can' basis, with a limited number as low as £5 or £10, ensuring accessibility for as wide an audience as possible.
Audience members are invited to fully immerse themselves in the theme with an optional black-and-white dress code.
Black Dog Noir shows from Friday 12 June to Sunday 14 June 2026.
Ballet D'Jerri dancers have recently shared the London stage with other national groups: The Royal Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, Royal Danish Ballet and The National Ballet of Canada - putting Jersey on the world map of Ballet.
