The baby gorilla at Jersey Zoo has been called Amari!
Four Swahili-inspired names were shortlisted for islanders to choose from, with more than 5,000 votes submitted since the Zoo revealed that the baby was female a couple of weeks ago.
The final results were:
* Amiri (strength) : 1,822
* Iniko (born during troubled times) : 1,638
* Muhuri (stamp, mum's name means envelope) : 1,113
* Kapuki (first-born daughter) : 587
More than 5,000 of you voted to name our baby gorilla and now we are DELIGHTED to introduce you to baby Amari! 🥰🦍🥰
