14 year-old takes on 250km in five days for Jersey charity

A 14-year-old JCG student is taking on five ultramarathons in five days to raise money for a breast cancer charity.

Teenager Emily Paton will be attempting to cover a total distance of 250km in less than a week next month.

She is no stranger to going the distance, having recently completed  a 100km run and the the 'Goggins Challenge', which is four miles every four hours for 48 hours.

She posts her challenges and training on her Instagram.

Emily also ran the Island Walk in June, coming first in the under-16 category.

She says that whilst this latest endurance test will be a huge challenge, she wants to push herself for a good cause:

"In my training, there have been times in the back-to-back long runs, you think to yourself that it would be so much nicer to just stay in bed.

"But it's a reminder that some people can't even get out of their bed and would do anything to even be able to walk 100 metres.

"I really enjoy multi-day endurance where you have to keep showing up for yourself."

The first 50km of the challenge is on the 28th October.

She hopes to raise awareness and support for Breast Cancer Support Jersey. You can donate to her fundraiser here.
