A teenager has been arrested following an incident at Haute Vallée school involving a knife.
A 14-year-old boy from Haute Vallée has been arrested following an incident involving a knife in the school's canteen at lunchtime.
Members of staff restrained the student until the police arrived.
One pupil has a minor injury to the hand, and there are no other reported injuries.
Headteacher Stuart Hughes has reassured parents that both staff and pupils will continue to be supported over the coming days.
He has also expressed pride in the staff who acted professionally, and in his students for remaining calm and supportive.
Haute Vallée has asked that people not attend the school at this time, and assured that all students and staff are safe.
The Chair of Governors, Philip Le Claire has extended 'sincere thanks' to everyone involved, he said:
“The Headteacher addressed all students in an assembly this afternoon, accompanied by police officers.
"Year 7 students were spoken to separately to ensure they received the reassurance and support they needed. Staff were fully briefed at the end of the school day, and well-being support for both students and employees is already in place and will continue over the coming days.
“I would also like to acknowledge that the school was unable to communicate with parents immediately during the incident.
I hope you understand that the priority had to be ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students and staff while the situation was being managed."
The school will be open as usual tomorrow.
