"87 Days" is an exhibition displaying artwork which represents the days the Bailiwick was in lockdown to protect the community from COVID-19.
HSC has released a short film showcasing a new art exhibition at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital called 87 Days.
The exhibition is made up of artwork that was gifted during lockdown, produced in lockdown by local artists or produced by members of Health & Social Care staff. The centre-piece of the display is the Damien Hirst ‘Butterfly Rainbow’ which was gifted to the Bailiwick earlier this year.
This two- minute film displays examples of the whole exhibition and details the artists for each piece. Islanders are welcome to view the entire exhibition which is on display in the main corridor by the Gloucester Room restaurant.
Lottie Barnes, Culture, Arts & Health Manager said: "Lockdown represented different things for different people. For some it was an opportunity to embrace a slower pace of life and reconnect with family. For others they experienced loneliness and isolation. For many it was a constant challenge to balance remote working with home schooling whilst learning to use new technology to keep in touch with family.
"This exhibition captures the different perceptions of artists in the Bailiwick over the 87 days. One painted a new landscape each day, another photographed the view from their window each day, whilst health and social care staff were encouraged to use art as a way of processing the intense emotions of working on the frontline.
"It was a pleasure to curate this exhibition and I would like to thank all of the artists involved who have gifted artwork or loaned pieces.’
