A silver birch has been planted outside Beau Sejour as a thank you to the island for hosting the Island Games.
Chairman of the International Island Games Association, Jorgen Pettersson, planted the tree in a small ceremony at the leisure centre.
Before he planted the small birch, he made a speech.
"The tree is an islander amongst trees. Once there has been a woodland fire, the birch is the first to come back.
It doesn't give up and that's how we would like to define ourselves.
We do not fear hard work, we do not fear challenges - we love them. We are who we are because of challenges."
The ceremony is a tradition that takes place at every games, with Mr Pettersson planting one in Gibraltar in 2019.
Chair of the organising committee for the 2023 Island Games, Dame Mary Perkins told us after the planting ceremony that she is feeling 'really good'.
"Everyone is so happy! That's unusual isn't it, to see smiling faces everywhere and people are really enjoying meeting new people.
Everyone is just talking about sport. I've never heard so much about sport before in my life."
