It was a wet month with rain falling on 26 days.
The highest recorded amount was on or around Wednesday 30th October when 33.7mm was recorded, mainly during the late afternoon and early evening.
This accounted for 17.9% of the monthly total.
The October monthly total is by far the largest monthly amount in the year to date, at over 250% more than any other month.
At the end of October rainfall for 2019 was 642 mm, 1% higher than the average of 632.6mm that has been recorded over the past decade and also 3% higher than the climatic mean of 621.5 mm.
However, the rainfall to date in 2019 is 22% less than the peak year of 2014 when 823.5mm was recorded.
