Guernsey's economy worth £3.48 billion

GDP increased by 5% in 2023 but in real terms it has dipped by 2%, the first time since the pandemic.

GDP, or Gross Domestic Product, is the measure of the wealth of an economy.

Guernsey generated and impressive £3.48 billion last year, according to latest States figures. That is 5% up on 2022 but in real terms, it is down 2%. That erosion of wealth last happened in 2020, during the pandemic.

Each individual contributes £54,400.

Salaries and company profits are the biggest contributor to Guernseys' wealth.

Finance and insurance remain the most economically important economic contributors, at 37%. The wider finance sector contributed £1.52 billion to Guernsey's wealth.

Government and the tech sector are next, with construction adding just 4%.
