The owners of a Guernsey restaurant which was all but destroyed in a fire say they are devastated, but thankful nobody was hurt.
Octopus at Havelet Bay is believed to have caught alight at around 4am on Saturday 24 February, with the blaze taking several hours for firefighters to bring under control.
In a post on social media, Mike and Delphine Pesrin-Auder expressed their gratitude to the emergency services and thanked islanders for the support they have received from the public.
They said: "As you know sadly Octopus had a significant and serious fire overnight. We will of course be closed for quite some time, but we will be back!
"Our sincere thanks to the many Police, Fire, and Civil Protection professionals who have worked so hard to help us."
The couple also paid tribute to their "wonderful" staff who are "as upset as we are" by what happened.
Mike and Delphine concluded by saying "We are both absolutely devastated, but realise the important thing is nobody was hurt."
The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
La Vallette re-opened just after 8am on Sunday 25 February.
