There have been 52 reports of either people or livestock being injured in the past 12 months from out-of-control dogs.
Guernsey Police have published advice to dog owners following a rise in out-of-control pets - on average one a week over the period of a year.
They say owners should be aware of their surroundings when releasing the lead and be confident their dog will obey commands.
Putting your dog in a situation where they end up chasing farm animals, wildlife or other pets can have serious consequences, and in the most serious cases, result in prosecution.
